Indoor Recreational Soccer

RA Steen Community Centre offers an indoor recreational mini soccer program for children ages 5-8 during the fall and winter months (October to March).

For youth ages 9 to 18, RA Steen Community Centre participates in an indoor recreational soccer program during the fall and winter (October to March), which is run by the St. Charles Soccer Association and overall administered by the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association. Participation in indoor soccer is particularly encouraged for those with a strong interest in soccer, as it provides for continuous year-round development of skills.  In indoor soccer, there is generally one game per weekend, with practices scheduled in school gyms during the week.  Games are played in 5 different venues throughout the city.

The season begins at the end of October and continues through to the end of March.

Other Programs – St. Charles Force Developmental and Premier / Premier-Developmental

For those children that have a stronger interest in the game, and have the commitment to dedicate more time and effort into the game, there are more advanced programs, offered from the district level up to the provincial level.  These programs are not run by RA Steen and players must register and pay their fees through the St. Charles Soccer Association (www.stcharles-soccer.com).
St. Charles Force Developmental Program

St. Charles Force Developmental Program is offered for boys and girls ages 9 – 12. Players must attend an assessment to participate in this program. This assessment is not a try out, it is intended to assess a child’s skill level to determine if the program is a good fit for their skill and interest in soccer. Normally, assessments for the outdoor season (May – October) are held in February.

This program also adheres to the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development program.

The outdoor season runs from May – September. Games are played two nights a week, with at least one practice a week. Children also participate in a training academy once a week.

St. Charles Force Premier and Premier/Development Program

St. Charles Force Premier and Premier/Development programs are provided for youth ages 13 to 18. This is a competitive level of play and players must try out for these programs – normally the tryout dates are in February, so check the St Charles Soccer Association website carefully.

For more information on the St. Charles Force programs, including assessment process details and registration fees and dates, see the district website at www.stcharles-soccer.com
