Indoor District and Youth City Soccer
For boys and girls ages 9 to 18, the indoor recreational soccer program is organized by WYSA (www.winnipegyouthsoccer.com), with districts entering teams in a city-wide pool. The season runs from mid-October up until the end of March, with usually one game per week. Girls usually play on Saturdays with boys usually playing on Sundays.
The venue and game time changes from week to week. Games may be played at the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg Soccer Federation – Subway South soccer complex), the University of Winnipeg (indoor soccer complex), at Seven Oaks indoor facility on Kingsbury, at the Gateway indoor field on Gateway Road, and possibly in East St Paul.
Each team is assigned a weekday evening slot at a school gym for practices (generally in the St. James School Division). These practice times will not be assigned until the teams are formed. SCSA also offers teams a once-a-month hour-long academy practice session run by the SCSA technical team at the University of Winnipeg indoor soccer complex.
RA Steen youth play on teams that are designated as St Charles Soccer Association teams. There usually aren’t enough players to have multiple teams at most age groups, and some age groups may not be represented at all. Sometimes, players have to be age advanced a year in order to have a spot to play, due to numbers.
Registration for indoor district and youth city soccer (ages 9 – 18) is directly through St. Charles Soccer Association. Registration is usually held in September and the fees for indoor soccer are set by the district. For more information and to register check the St. Charles Soccer Association web page (www.stcharles-soccer.com).
