What to bring:
We ask that all participants bring a water bottle, appropriate outdoor clothing and a mask/face covering every day. Masks/ face coverings are not mandatory but are highly recommended to be worn indoors. The participants must not bring unnecessary toys, books, or other things. If there is a reading time, we will supply the books. There will not be any free time for the participants to use their own things.
We will not be having any fundraisers this year so there must be a fee to help cover costs.
This program is not a drop in program; each participant will be expected to engage in every activity planned. Participants must be picked up by parents/guardians or another verified caregiver, unless the parent/guardian has notified staff that they’ve given their child permission to leave on their own. Participants will not be free to come and go as they please. We hope to have as many activities outdoors as possible. This includes doing crafts, physical activities, games, etc. Any supplies used must be wiped down with sanitizer, and IF we do any activities done with touching (e.g. tag) then everyone will sanitize after that activity.
The participants will arrive at 4:00 PM, their temperatures will be taken, they will be asked the COVID-19 screening questions, and then they will sanitize their hands. Once this has been completed we will start on the activities planned. In between activities we will have time for everyone to use the bathroom and sanitize. The building will remain locked throughout the program.
***There is no program on days there is no school, including holidays.
A phone will be available to participants to use in case of emergencies only. After each use it will be sanitized.
Positive behavior and attitude are very important. Behavior problems with one child often create problems with larger groups of children. All children who attend the program are expected to behave in a positive manner and to follow the rules set out by the centre. Please go over the rules with your child and ensure that they understand what is expected of them while at the centre.
1. Be polite to others
2. Do not use foul language
3. Take care of centre property and equipment, and put away after use
4. Keep hands and feet to yourself
5. Centre attendants are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of ALL who use the centre. LISTEN to centre attendants if they ask you to do/not do something
6. Show respect for the centre and for others
7. Keep your Community Centre clean by putting all garbage and recycling in the appropriate bins provided
8. Hand-held electronic devices such as iPods, cell phones, gaming systems, etc. are NOT permitted at the Drop-In. If a child is seen with any of these devices, it will be taken away, stored in the office and returned when it’s home time. Cell phones may be used for calling a parent/guardian, but must then be stored away.
9. Keep your belongings in your assigned space.
